Graveside services for Carole Ann Carter will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Centuries and Hillcrest Cemetery in Shreveport, LA with Rev. Thomas Rush and Rev. John Alley officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on June 25, 2014 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA.
Carole Carter, 79 years of age, passed away June 22, 2014. Carole was born June 14, 1935 in Logansport, LA.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. James E. Carter of Bermuda, LA; her two sons, James Craig Carter and wife Roni of Overland Park, KS and Edward Keith Carter and wife Robin of Shreveport, LA; one daughter, Chyrisse Ann Carter Miller and husband Keith of Austin, TX; fourteen grandchildren, Megan Carter Stair, Rebecca Helms, Hunter Carter, Rachel Carter, Clair Carter Lovett, Merideth Carter Conanan, Lt. Grant Edward Miller, Lacie Helms, Matthew Reaves Miller, Hannah Carter, Thomas Martin Carter, Camille Carter, Caroline Templin Miller, and Seth Dawkins Carter; one great grandchild, Francis Loraine Lovett; one sister, Jimmie Ruth Butler and her husband, The Honorable Robert Butler of Arcadia, LA; one brother, Ted Anthony Hunter and wife Martha of Shreveport, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James "J.H." Hunter and Louis Templin Hunter.
Derrell Jean Witteborg Sorrell

GREENWOOD, LA - Derrell Witteborg Sorrell wife of George M. (Sonny) Sorrell Sr. passed away on June 9, 2014 in Shreveport, LA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Chad Hardbarger, Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Derrell was born in Wharton, TX on June 6, 1935. Then, while residing in Galveston her love of the beach and ocean grew to be a special part of her life, always returning for a visit with her children and grandchildren. After moving to Shreveport as a teen, she and George became high school sweethearts graduating from Fair Park High School in 1953. She worked for United Gas until they were married on June 30, 1956 at Ingleside Baptist Church. While still living in Shreveport, Derrell and George had three children and the pride and joy of their lives. The love they had for their children extended to raising and riding horses and livestock which resulted in 4-H projects which brought the family so much pleasure. In 1975, the Sorrell family moved to Houston, TX. Derrell worked for Spring ISD. They were blessed with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. After retiring in 1989, Derrell and George moved to Center, TX with their son and three of their grandchildren where they began to work with many school activities and the 4-H horse project. In 2004, Derrell and George returned to Shreveport in the Greenwood area.
Derrell was preceded in death by her father, E.F. Witteborg Sr. and mother Norma Owens Witteborg. She is survived by her husband, George Sorrell, Sr.; daughter, Diana Porter and husband, Mike of Shreveport; sons, George Sorrell Jr. of Austin, TX, Grant Sorrell of Cambodia; brother, E.F. (Sonny) Witteborg and wife, Jo Ann of Shreveport; grandchildren, Jason and wife, Amanda, Marcy, Ashley and husband, Patrick, Boone, Luc, and Landry; great-grandchildren, Adam, Hunter, Nathan, Leah, Presley, Jackson, and Saylor; her dearest friend, Beverly Hillhouse that was with her always; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A special thanks to Dr. Craig Miller and staff, Dr. James Smith and the Collins class of Emmanuel Baptist Church that was so kind to her during her lengthy illness.
Pallbearers will be Floyd Hillhouse, Charles Hickman, Gary Johnson, Richard "Skip" Shirley, James Howard and David Hanson.
Patsy Ann Hyatt Eaton

Services for Pat Eaton, 78, of Liberty City will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Liberty City with Reverend Bruce Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosewood Park Cemetery in Longview. Mrs. Eaton passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 in Longview.
Mrs. Eaton was born January 17, 1936 in Houston, Texas to the late Dennis Howard and Eulalia Belle Hyatt. Patricia was a teacher, devout Christian and was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She loved to travel, especially to Alaska and Europe. Mrs. Eaton was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She above all else enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Patricia will be truly missed by all the loving family and friends she leaves behind.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years Charles Eaton of Liberty City; daughter and son-in-law Angela and David Bryan of Liberty City; three sons and daughters-in-law Lane and Cheryl Eaton of Liberty City, Mark and Beth Eaton of Longview and Scott and Rebecca Eaton of Liberty City; grandchildren Candace Stafford, Jeremy Wilkins, Max Wilkins, Luke Eaton, Paul Eaton, Kyle Eaton, Laura Maksim, Jacob Eaton, Daniel Eaton, Lesta Eaton, Charlotte Eaton, David Eaton, Jared Eaton, Morgan Martin, Wesley Eaton, Sean Eddington and Chase Eddington; six great grandchildren Skylar, Dylan, Wyatt, Jake, Rob and Rhett as well as many other loving family and friends.
Patricia is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church of Liberty City Building Fund, 4714 F.M. 1252 West, Kilgore, Texas 75662.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Mary Baker Brewer
(1935 - 2014)
Mary Baker Brewer passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2014 surrounded by family. Mary was born on December 9, 1935 in Shreveport, LA to Russell Norris and Mary Amelia Baker. She was a 1953 graduate of Fair Park H.S.
There to greet her in paradise are her loving sons, Donnie Russell Brewer and Jack Roy Brewer, Jr. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 59 years, Jack Roy Brewer, her sisters Alice Baker Demmon (Alan) and Marjory Graham LaGrone (Harold), daughters Amelia Brewer Adams (Steve) and Patricia Brewer Ley (Kurt), grandchildren, Jerome, J.P., and Ben Adams, Drew, Dan, Matt, Mary, Joe, and Claire Ley, Donnie Brewer (Sarina) and Casey Brewer Robinson (Lee), nine great grandchildren, and many others who knew her as "Nana".
Mary loved everyone and considered them all her family. She always had an open heart and pocket book for the poor and broken hearted. Her wishes were that in lieu of flowers, gifts or contributions be made to organizations dedicated to the poor and most vulnerable in society.
